Greetings all, and welcome to Blabi Blogs.
To begin, I’ll provide a little background; hi – I’m Abi (or Blabi)! I’m a UK based content creator and qualified makeup artist.
Alongside this, I hold a strong background in cosplay and social media marketing. For anyone interested in seeing examples of my makeup work, head over to my portfolio page!
Why did I start this blog?
Despite being introverted, I love sharing my thoughts on various topics (hence the slightly ironic play on my name, “Blabi”).
Having blogged in the past & being an English graduate, I decided Instagram captions wasn’t cutting it for me anymore.
Blogging provides far more freedom to discuss my experiences and interests in detail. This includes; horror, lifestyle, beauty, travel and of course many genres of music.
What inspires me
Fictional villains have been a long standing interest for me from a young age. They were the true catalyst for the dark style of art & makeup work I do today. So much so, that I have created numerous villain inspired cosplays & makeup looks. Even my dissertation was dedicated to our dark lord and saviour, Sauron.
Who doesn’t love, horror, Halloween & scare attractions? Well, if not, I’m here to convince you why you should! Horror has been an absolute obsession for me from a young age, after being scared to death by the 2004 Grudge remake. You will find many horror related reviews and posts here on BlabiBlogs. Horror films, horror games, & the best scare attractions to visit? I’ve got you covered.
Goth subculture, & music in general are both a huge part of my interests. I first became involved with Goth subculture when I was in my early teens. Luckily, my mum was knowledgeable about the music scene. She introduced me to many amazing artists from the 80’s.
This included Bauhaus, The Sisters of Mercy, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Cult, the Damned, Kate Bush, Depeche Mode, to name some. It was from this I developed my music tastes further into goth metal, darkwave, atmospheric black metal and so on.
While I am a varied artist, makeup art is one of my primary mediums. When I first started out doing makeup looks, everything I did was horror & clown themed. For several years I attended Whitby Goth Weekend, where I would sport dark cabaret style outfits & accompanying clown makeups. This was a huge part of my creative development and I still love to do clown makeups to this day!
What to expect from this blog?
Reviews, creative content & how-to’s. Products I recommend, cool places to visit. Sometimes even advice!
As is evident from my social media, I’m passionately invested in the discussion and promotion of metal and alternative music. If you would be interested in me promoting or reviewing your band’s music, please contact me via this page.
Expect to see guest contributions & appearances from my partner, Oli. (He is a bassist/drummer & has been working in the music industry for several years.)
Thanks so much for reading & hope you enjoy my blog!
